THE PICCOLI OF VITTORIO PODRECCA

Composer: Various
Lyricist: Various

Opened: December 22, 1932, Lyric Theatre, N.Y.C.; moved on February 6, 1933 to the George M. Cohan Theatre, N.Y.C.
Performances: 141

Note: A return engagement opened on January 8, 1934 at the Hudson Theatre, and moved on January 22, 1934 to the Ambassador Theatre, for a run of 45 performances.

Act 2 (evenings) of this entertainment consisted of a short selection of THE GEISHA (M: Sidney Jones; L: Harry Greenback). A 1998 recording of that score can be found on CD/Hyperion 55245. For the return engagement, the selection from THE GEISHA was replaced with a selection from Don Juan (Don Giovanni) (M: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart; L: L. La Pointe). I have not attempted to compile discological information for that opera.

Act 2 (matinees) consisted of THE SLEEPING BEAUTY (LA BELLA DORMENTE
NEL BOSCO) (M: Ottorino Respighi; L: Gian Bistolfi). A 1994 recording of that score can be found on CD/Marco Polo 223742.
