PALM
BEACH
(aka "Once In Palm Beach," "You Never Know," and
"Dancing With Time")
Composer: Charles
Strouse
Lyricist: Charles Strouse
Written: c. 1970s -
2000s
Performances: Unproduced
Note: PALM BEACH (with a book by Martin Gottfried) was never produced. The score was reworked with a new book by Charles Strouse and Barbara Siman. It debuted in Savannah, Georgia in 1997 under the title ONCE IN PALM BEACH. In April 2007, a third version with a new book by Rinne Groff was mounted in April 2005 by the Trinity Repertory Company in Providence, Rhode Island, under the title YOU NEVER KNOW. A fourth version, with a book by Strouse, had a gala concert workshop performance on June 30, 2007 at the Kirkland Performance Center in Kirkland, Washington, under the title DANCING WITH TIME. Given the multiple iterations of this musical, it is not entirely clear which songs were intended for which show, and the attributions given below may not be entirely accurate in all cases.
